Globalisation

In Social Studies 9M have been learning about globalisation and specifically at looking at New Zealand exports.  We used google maps to show which countries New Zealand exports to and students added their maps with their research to their blogs.
Christian did some excellent research and found out that in 2018 NZ exports amounted to $39.8 billion USD.   You can see how Christian compiled his research in his map by clicking here and visiting his blog.

Latitiude and longitude

In Social Studies we have been learning about latitude and longitude.  Latitude is the imaginary lines that go around the earth.  They are measured in degrees, minutes and seconds.  Longtitude lines go up and down the earth travelling from north to south.  This is Kiro's slide deck, please click on his blog to leave him a comment.

Pink Shirt Day

Last Friday we acknowledged Pink Shirt day at school.  Everyone was allowed to wear pink shirts to raise awareness about bullying. Our school does not want any form of bullying here, whether it be verbal, mental, physical, cyber or anything else.  We do not want it at our school, in our homes or in our lives. We want everyone to be happy and safe and enjoy schooling everyday.

In Social Studies last week we created our own CyberSmart posters and they look fabulous on the wall, here is a sample of a poster that Tyra created.

This is a snap shot of our classroom back wall and all the posters that the students made.
